Castiglione della Pescaia (Grosseto) is a town with 7,465 inhabitants, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, located about 22 km from the capital. Punta Ala is a fraction of the town of Castiglione della Pescaia in the province of Grosseto. It is a popular seaside resort situated on the northern slopes of the headland.
Called Punta Troia, was the great Italian aviator Italo Balbo, who had bought some fortifications and villas in the area and then became his residences, to change the name in Punta Ala, drawing it from the aviation jargon.
