Why choose an eco-sustainable place for holidays?
Going on holiday to an environmentally sustainable place is an ideal choice for the modern traveler for several reasons.
Reduction of the environmental impact: An eco-sustainable place is designed to reduce the impact on the surrounding environment. For example, it could use renewable energy, adopt recycling and waste management practices, limit the use of harmful chemicals and promote nature conservation. By choosing to visit such a place, you are helping to preserve the environment, reducing pollution and excessive consumption of resources.
Green Awareness: Visiting a green place provides an opportunity to learn and experience green practices. These experiences can influence your behavior and habits even after the holiday, encouraging you to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. You can take your knowledge and experience with you, spreading environmental awareness among friends, family and communities.
Biodiversity Preservation: Eco-sustainable places are often located in areas of great ecological value, such as national parks, nature reserves or marine protected areas. By visiting them, you contribute to the protection of unique ecosystems and the conservation of biodiversity. This is particularly important given that many species and habitats are under threat from human activity. Through responsible tourism, you can contribute to the conservation of these areas by financially supporting management programs and scientific research.
Benefits for the local community: Green places often involve and support local communities. Sustainable tourism can generate jobs, provide economic opportunities and promote local development. Accommodation facilities and tourism businesses that operate in a sustainable way tend to involve local people, respecting their culture and traditions. By choosing to visit these places, you can contribute to the prosperity of local communities, promoting fair and responsible tourism.
Meaningful Travel Experiences: Vacations in an eco-friendly location often offer authentic experiences and deeper connections with the local nature and culture. You can enjoy breathtaking landscapes, participate in outdoor activities, interact with local wildlife and experience the richness of local traditions. These experiences can enrich your journey, making it meaningful and unforgettable.
By staying at Il Boschetto you will contribute to the reduction of the environmental impact and you will be able to take with you the best conscious choices you have already made at home.
Here are the most important actions that Il Boschetto has adopted to reduce the environmental impact:
The biggest (and most daring) choice that the grove made to break down environmental exploitation and deterioration was in 2018 when purchases of disposable plastic tableware were eliminated in the homonymous bar and bathhouse even before it became banned in some Italian beaches (those adhering to the project).
The first big step was then taken in 2019 with the aim of reducing the use of plastic even more drastically. If in the previous year only the small bar il grove sold about 23,000 bottles of water, in that year they were definitively ceased. The bar, saying no to disposable plastic, stopped selling water in plastic bottles and replaced them with bottles, inviting all consumers to use reusable bottles knowing that at the Boschetto you can fill your bottle with fresh still or sparkling water .
Plastic crockery has been replaced with compostable or reusable alternatives and above all for years the purchase of disposable plastic bottles has no longer been supported.
We recycle the water from the bathhouse showers to irrigate the natural dune on which the restaurant lies, in this way we give sustenance to the plants in times of drought without burdening water resources.
We tend to choose local suppliers for the supply of fresh and seasonal ingredients. This reduces the need for long-distance transportation, supports the local economy, and promotes agricultural diversity. Even the meats are sourced locally and the burgers are made from 100% Italian beef with no additives.
We have implemented measures to avoid food waste, proper inventory management, adequate portions, helping to reduce food waste and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
We have taken measures to reduce energy consumption, such as the installation of energy efficient equipment, the use of LED lighting. The temperature regulation and the heating and cooling control of each single room is managed individually by the customer only if the windows are closed.
We have implemented a separate waste collection system, promoting recycling and composting and choosing suppliers who use recyclable or biodegradable packaging.
Our menus include vegetarian or vegan options, proposals with meats from sustainable farms and fish from certified sources. We also don’t use ingredients with a high environmental impact such as palm oil.
Communicating to guests about the restaurant’s green actions and promoting responsible behaviors, such as the conscious use of resources, local purchasing and support for environmental sustainability, can help spread awareness and involve customers in the cause. For this we thank each of our guests for their support and trust.
These are just some of the actions we can take to become more eco-sustainable. Every step towards greater sustainability can make a difference in reducing the overall environmental impact of the tourism sector. But it will never be enough and we are still in the race to find new solutions.
